NOTES top No checking of target is done. Deleting the name referred to by a symbolic link will actually delete the file (unless it also has other hard links). In Ubuntu, that file is a symlink that points to /run/resolvconf/resolv.conf so cp will complain that it won't copy through a dangling symlink.
